Our Story

SPESprac Holdings traces its roots back to 2012, when Debtors Management Solutions (DMS) was founded to address a critical need in the medical healthcare sector: effective systems for financial management and medical collections.


The idea was born from Danie’s experience as a Financial Manager in 2000 and later as Practice Manager at Winelands Radiology. At Winelands Radiology he spent eight years building systems for financial business growth, medical collections as well as systems to improve and streamline daily operations and flow within the company. These systems became the foundation of DMS.


After working years as Financial as well as Practice Manager at different companies , his medical expertise started with working for multiple Surgeons within their Practice before starting at Winelands Radiology.


Michelle, Danie’s wife, also joined the team in 2012. Around this time, bringing her own expertise in medical credit control, assisting in reception and as a qualified Opthalmic Assistant at an Ophthalmologist. Previously working at a pharmacy, a Specialist Physician as well as a Radiology practice, she joined Winelands Radiology in 2004. There she gained knowledge in day-to-day operations in reception, authorisations and later as an Executive Assistant. She developed a comprehensive reception training syllabus and contributed to building systems that strengthened client operations and patient interaction.


To offer more specialised expertise to their clients, Jonathan, a Chartered Accountant, joined DMS in 2013. With more than 25 years of experience in financial management, tax planning and as a Chartered Accountant, he has made a significant contribution to the development of the comprehensive practice management suite.


By 2015, the business had outgrown the DMS identity. A rebrand was initiated after a Specialist Surgeon, a client, encouraged the team to extend their services into full practice management. This led to the establishment of SPESprac Holdings as the umbrella under

which all services, from practice management, financial support, medical bureau, IT solutions as well HR management could be housed.

 


The transition from DMS to SPESprac Holdings was driven by a need to modernise the brand, clarify its market positioning and consolidate the various affiliated services under one aligned name. While the DMS brand had built a strong reputation, it carried a legacy identity that no longer fully represented the business’s growth. The name ‘SPESprac Holdings reflects the business’s forward-looking purpose: to provide specialised practice support that is professional, consistent as well as comprehensive.


In 2020, SPESprac Holdings officially completed its transition from DMS. Consolidating its brand into a single, unified identity. The rebrand reflected not just a new name, but a strategic evolution: moving from specialised debt solution to a comprehensive and client orientated business solutions provider for the medical Industry
